For those that do not know a gingerbread house is a house made out of cookie dough. Decorated with icing and candies, very popular at Christmas. This is a tradition that goes as back as the 11th century in Europe. The spice ginger was brought from the Middle East. Ginger was used not only for the taste, it had properties that helped preserve the bread. People were making it and giving the gingerbread house as a present of love.
Nowadays a gingerbread house does not have to be an actual house, although it is the most common. It can be anything from a castle to a small cabin or another kind of building.
Today at Intercontinental Doha The City, at 2:00pm there was a gingerbread building activity and in my head, it was just for my daughter to get into the charismas spirit, but I ended up enjoying it more. I always wanted to build and decorate a gingerbread house. Always told my self you are too big for that. I guess at Christmas time I always feel small again!!!
Now that I am a mom it is very easy to experience Christmas throw the eyes of my 10-year-old daughter. So, this is my cover and I act like a 12-year-old!!!
She still is trying to find her relation to Christmas, because she is growing up in a country that does not officially celebrates Christmas, but I hope that when she will have her own children she will do her best to teach them our traditions or come up with new traditions.
Have you tried anything new this Christmas time? Let me know in the comments below.
